You need a bed set. That includes sheets,pillowcase and comforter. whereas a comforter set is usually just a comforter and a pillow cover. I think you are probably better off with cotton it holds up longer. try to get a high thread count at least 200. the higher the thread count the more comfortable the sheets.
Different manufacturers describe their bedding sets in different ways so always check the contents of the set. You can always buy coordinated items from the same range (with the better quality bedding) to get exactly the items you need – sheets, pillow shams, bed valance, throw, comforter etc
I prefer poly cotton to cotton unless the cotton has an easy iron finish – that’s after I bought a pure cotton bedding ensemble a few years ago – it was beautiful embroidered cotton – a pleasure to look at and the devil to iron.
